Yeehaw!

June 30, 2008

We gave away all sorts of things during the Drive-Home today!  Of course, there was the traditional Family Fun Five at Five giveaway – Gage from Gravette came away with a $20 Skia Gift Certificate, as well as a Large Eureka Pizza.  But congrats as well to Theresa from Fayetteville, and Marisol from Bentonville, as they (and a couple guests) are going to be attending the Rodeo of the Ozarks!

Ginny Owens Stops By…

June 27, 2008

Thanks to Ginny Owens for visiting the Drive-Home this afternoon!  We talked about this being her first visit to NWA in a few years, her new album that (she hopes) will be out in a month or so, and about Big House, the ministry that invited Ginny to come out for the “1st Annual Big House Benefit”.

Her concert takes place tomorrow night at Prairie Grove Battlefield Park.  It starts at 7PM, and they say to make sure and bring your lawn chairs and/or blankets! If it’s raining, the concert will take place at Pairie Grove Christian Church.

Want to lose weight? How about McDonalds??

June 23, 2008

Today on the show I talked about a Virginia man who successfully lost 80 pounds eating nothing but food from McDonalds.  Ok, so it wasn’t all Big Macs and shakes (he stuck to the wraps and salads), but still, pretty amazing!  Check it out here:

Volunteers Needed

June 19, 2008

Hey everybody!

You’ve probably heard about the bad flooding along the Mississippi River, and especially in the state of Iowa.  Well, Victory Church in Springdale his asking for volunteer clean-up workers to go with them to help out in Cedar Rapids, IA.    If enough folunteers from NWA are found, Victory Church is going to provide transportation to Iowa.  If you’re interested in helping out, call 479-409-5655.

Like Coffee? Good News!!!

June 17, 2008

Today on the show I shared an article about some new research that’s out that shows that coffee drinkers have a reduced risk of dying from heart disease.  The study was pretty expansive, and is good news for those of you out there like my wife or my mother who can’t get enough of the stuff!  Go to Starbucks now with full confidence!!  =)

Congrats to Kara, winner of today’s Family Fun Five at Five.

Rainy Monday

June 16, 2008

Rough start to the week?

Definitely rough weather-wise.  Some very rough weather passed through portions of the listening area late last night and early this morning, and rain continues on now and most likely through tonight.  But hey, that’s what the Drive-Home is here for!  Encouragement, good music, and maybe a few laughs on your drive-home from work.

Remember that if you ever want to call and chat during the show, I’d love to hear from you…877-KLRC-101.

Are KLRC Listeners good drivers?

June 12, 2008

Today on the show we talked about a story from nwahomepage.com that says that a recent study found that 1 in 6 American drivers cannot pass a written drivers test.  KNWA even went out and did their own survey in NWA, and had 75% fail!  Some of the questions are a little tricky, but overall the listeners that called in did quite well!

Want to try for yourself?  Here’s the test!  Be sure to comment and let us know how you did!!

Superchick coming to the Drive-Home!

June 11, 2008

Hey everybody, hope you had a super Wednesday!

We’ve got some exciting news to announce today, and that’s that Superchick is going to be celebrating the release of their new album, “Rock What You Got” on June 24th, right here on the Drive-Home.  I’m going to be at Skia in Bentonville from 4-7pm on Tuesday, June 24th with Superchick as they release the new project. They’re going to play some acoustic versions of their new songs, and we’ll have an up close “meet & greet” time with autographs and everything!  If you want more info, you can find it here.

In other news, keep everyone in Iowa and surrounding states in your thoughts and prayers as flooding is getting pretty bad in a lot of those areas.
