Olympic Sized Diets
August 20, 2008I don’t know about you, but I’m pretty into the olympics. If you’ve been watching them at all, you know that there are two big names out there right now – swimmer Michael Phelps, and Jamaican swimmer Usain Bolt. Phelps won eight olympic gold medals (the most ever), and Usain Bolt set records in both the 100 and 200 meter sprints.
But I think what’s even more amazing is what they eat.
Phelps eats an amazing 12,000 calories EVERY DAY! His breakfast for example, consists of three egg sandwiches, a bowl of grits, a five egg omellete, three pancakes (with chocolate chips), three slices of french toast, and two cups of coffee.
That’s about four times the amount of calories recommended for someone his height and weight. I have a very high metabolism, so I can kind of relate…but he still eats almost three times as much as me.
Bolt, on the other hand, gets up at eleven, skips breakfast, and eats chicken nuggets for lunch and dinner.
